EMSCULPT works by putting an applicator to the region of your body that you want to tone muscle and eliminate fat.
Once attached, the applicator deploys an electromagnetic field that affects muscle and fat by penetrating the skin and triggering almost 20,000 muscular contractions in a single 30-minute session.
Numerous studies and peer reviews have shown that these treatments decrease fat, increase muscle growth (muscle hypertrophy), and muscle fibers (muscle hyperplasia). On top of it all, the treatments are non-invasive and only require patients to lie down and relax!

How it Works
The Consultation
At RL Center for Cosmetic Surgery & Medspa, each initial patient consultation is different.
Depending on your needs, desired treatments, areas of concern, and simply who you are as a patient, we will schedule you with an actual treatment provider to discuss your goals, budget, and more. During this appointment, we will go through before & after photos, your medical history, and any questions you might have. Only then can we make a recommendation for which procedures or treatments may be right for you and why. We will be sure to educate you on how the treatments work, including what to expect during and afterward.
A typical consultation lasts about 40 minutes and is free for all aesthetic treatments, including EMSCULPT. At the end of your consultation, you will leave our office in Vernon Hills with a thorough, personalized treatment plan. And when you’re ready, we’ll schedule your first treatment session.
The Procedure
During your EMSCULPT appointment, we start by ensuring your total comfort in a clean, comfortable, and private treatment room.
Our expert providers will then discuss a target area for proper placement of the applicator, which we will place on your body.
Next, the EMSCULPT device induces supra-maximal muscle contractions, which results in a rapid metabolic reaction. This tones and builds the muscle while reducing fat, all while leaving the surrounding areas of your body unaffected. These treatments last for about 30 minutes, after which you’ll be able to continue all activities as normal.
The Recovery
After completing an EMSCULPT treatment in our Vernon Hills office, you might feel some muscle soreness similar to what you’d feel after a hard workout.
This is normal and should subside shortly following the treatment.
In the months following treatment, you can expect an average muscle growth between 15 and 20 percent with a significant reduction in fat. Usually, the best results are noticeable three months after treatment. You should also expect continued improvement for up to 12 months later.
