How it Works
The Consultation
Each initial patient consultation is different at RL Center for Cosmetic Surgery & Medspa.
Depending on your needs, desired treatments, areas of concern, and who you are as a patient, we will schedule you with a provider to discuss your goals, budget, and more. During this appointment, we will review before-and-after photos, talk about your medical history, and answer any questions you might have. We will educate you on how Sculptra injections work, including what to expect during and afterward.
A typical consultation lasts about 40 minutes and is complimentary for all aesthetic treatments, including Sculptra. At the end of your consultation, you will leave our Vernon Hills office with a thorough, personalized treatment plan. And when you’re ready, we’ll schedule your first appointment.
The Procedure
The Sculptra process is much like how we administer most cosmetic facial injections. First, your injector marks the injection sites and applies a topical anesthetic to minimize any discomfort. Next, your injector delivers precise amounts of product to the treatment site.
When performing a Sculptra butt lift, your injector will administer the product in targeted areas to increase the size and improve the contour of your buttocks. Following your injections, the Sculptra compound activates collagen-producing fibroblasts that have been dormant. As collagen levels increase, tissues in the dermis and epidermis become stronger and more elastic. This process leads to a visible reduction in cellulite and stretch marks and tightens the skin.
The Recovery
No downtime is necessary after Sculptra facial injections, and you won’t miss any time from work. However, we recommend that you do not exercise for 24 to 48 hours.
A primary reason Sculptra makes an excellent alternative to butt lift surgery is its short downtime. Most patients don’t need to rest after this procedure, and there are no special aftercare instructions. However, you may notice mild swelling and bruising around your injection sites, and in some cases, this can make sitting for long periods uncomfortable.
If you have a sedentary job, you might want to take the rest of the day off work after having Sculptra injections, but this isn’t strictly necessary. If you experience any soreness, you can manage it comfortably with over-the-counter pain relievers and a cool compress.
