Is a BBL right for me?

It is important that the patient is healthy and also has realistic goals and expectations from the procedure. The ideal candidate for the BBL surgery are individuals who wish to enhance the size of their buttocks but they must have a significant amount of fat in different areas of their body such as the abdomen, waist, hips, and lower back. Patients should be ready to dedicate a few weeks for the recovery period after the procedure is complete.

Do I have enough fat for a BBL procedure?

For a range of reference, patients who do not have adequate amount of fat are asked to gain approximately 10-15 lbs. in order to undergo the butt augmentation. However, everyone comes in different shapes and sizes and have different desires. Alternatively, if a patient does not have adequate stores of fat for a BBL, the patient may consider a gluteal implant.

How many areas do you need to perform liposuction on in order to get the best results?

How much fat takes in a BBL?

Fat transfer is like planting seeds, where the seed is the fat harvested and the soil is the buttock tissue. You can expect a range of fat take of 40-75%. The fat that does not take will typically resorb. The amount of fat take can be improved by avoid sitting on the grafted fat for several weeks until the fat can take, avoiding smoking, wearing a specialized garment and following the postoperative instructions.

A BBL performed by a highly trained plastic surgeon involves low risks. It is important that the fat is only placed in the subcutaneous layer of the buttock as the injection of the fat into the gluteal muscles can result in fat inadvertently entering into the bloodstream. Therefore, it is important to choose a surgeon who frequently performs the BBL procedure.

How it Works

The Consultation

At RL Center for Cosmetic Surgery & Medspa, each initial patient consultation is different.

Depending on your needs, desired treatments, areas of concern, and simply who you are as a patient, we will schedule you with an actual treatment provider to discuss your goals, budget, and more. During this appointment, we will go through before & after photos, your medical history, and any questions you might have. Only then can we make a recommendation for which procedures or treatments may be right for you and why. We will be sure to educate you on how the treatments work, including what to expect during and afterward.

A cosmetic surgery consultation with Dr. Lu costs $100. At the end of your consultation, you will leave our office in Vernon Hills with a thorough, personalized treatment plan. And when you’re ready, we’ll schedule your surgery for a day and time that works for your schedule.

During your initial consultation, the doctors will properly evaluate you in determining if you are an ideal candidate for this procedure. You will discuss the procedure in detail, including your Brazilian butt lift cost, preparation, recovery, and other factors.

During your pre-op appointment, your surgeon will also provide a list of medications and items you will need for your surgery.

It is important for patients to follow all instructions provided by the doctor in order to have a successful surgery without complications.

The Brazilian Butt Lift Procedure

A Brazilian butt lift is a specialized fat transfer procedure that augments the size and shape of the buttocks without implants. The fat that is collected by liposuction is carefully prepared by washing and filtering the fat so that only high-quality fat is grafted into the buttocks.

Excess fat is removed from the hips, abdomen, lower back, or thighs with liposuction, and a portion of this fat is then strategically injected into the buttocks.

BBL Recovery

It’s important to have someone who can drive you home and take care of you for the first 24 hours following your BBL procedure.

Your surgeon will send you home with both instructions for your recovery and supplies that will help you heal correctly.

Variable amount so bruising and swelling are expected and normal after a BBL surgery. Wearing all compression garments given is absolutely necessary. These garments help lower the risk of fluid buildup and reduce swelling. They must be worn 24 hours a day every day until the doctor advises.

Sitting down must be avoided for at least three to four weeks after the procedure. Pressure on the buttocks when sitting can cause the fat to resorb and less fat may “take” in this scenario. Therefore, it is important to treat this area with extra care. If sitting is necessary, patients should only sit on an extremely soft and cushioned pillow.

It is essential to go to all follow up appointments to make sure the healing process is smooth and there is no fluid buildup.
