You are unhappy with the way your breasts look, and you decided to have either breast augmentation surgery or a breast lift. The only trouble is you don’t know which one is right for you.
The Breast Augmentation
Breast augmentation is a good choice if you can endorse one of the following:
- Your breasts are too small
- Your breasts sag
- You would like to round out the tops of your breasts
- You do not like the results of a previous augmentation procedure
With augmentation, the surgeon inserts an implant that increases the size and shape of the breasts. The choice of whether the implant will be silicone or saline will be yours to make. You will even be able to decide where you would like the incision to be.
The Breast Lift
A breast lift may be a better option if you are happy with the size but have complaints about the way your breasts look. Women have chosen to have the lift procedure after their breasts lost their shape due to weight loss, pregnancy, breastfeeding, aging and gravity.
To make your breasts appear as if they have been lifted, the surgeon removes excess skin and reshapes the remaining tissue. This creates more youthful contours and increases support for the new look. The breast lift procedure also decreases the size of enlarged areolas.
The Combination
In some cases, women would like to increase the size of their breasts and reduce the sagging. Fortunately, plastic surgeons can perform both procedures at the same time, so you do not have to choose one or the other.
