Dr. Daniel Ritacca is one of the first plastic surgeons in Illinois to use Kybella, a brand new injectable made of deoxycholic acid which has clinically proven to “melt” fat cells.
The patients submental chin fat is marked for precision/accuracy with a grid of small dots, targets—if you will; the area is then numbed. Each dot then gets a small injection of Kybella. Patients usually require two to three treatments one month apart.
Over the course of a month, the fat melts away and is naturally flushed from the body.
Immediate side-effects include mild inflammation at the injection sight which helps to produce collagen, which then tightens and firms the area so there’s no hanging skin.
Currently, Kybella is only FDA-approved for the submental chin area, but theoretically, it may be used to treat other areas of the body in the near future.
