Is it ever too early for a nose job or too late for breast enhancement surgery? The answer to that question is between a patient and her (or his) plastic surgeon. Here are the five most popular cosmetic surgeries in 2014, listed by age:
Pre-teen
Few children undergo cosmetic surgery prior to their teenage years. Sometimes, a child who has significantly protruding ears may benefit from an otoplasty, alternately called an ear tuck. It’s done for purely social reasons, often during the summer before the child starts first grade.
14-19
For teens in America, the most requested cosmetic surgery is a \u2018nose job’. Technically, it’s called rhinoplasty and when it’s performed by a skilled plastic surgeon, the results may be life-changing in a very nice way.
20-35
During young adulthood, the cosmetic procedures most requested by women have something to do with their breasts. Most opt for breast enhancement. Alternately known as mammaplasty, breast enlargement surgery allows many women to feel more attractive. A number of young women request breast reduction; this is often done to relieve back and shoulder pain.
35-50
This age group includes women who have had their last baby. Once they’ve completed their family, many women opt for cosmetic body sculpting procedures and liposuction. This is also the age when men are most likely to undergo hair transplant surgery.
50+
Many people consider cosmetic surgery options in middle age. The most common plastic procedures in this age group are eyelid lifts, or blepharoplasty, and face lifts, also known as rhytidectomy.
If plastic surgery makes a person feel better and look better, they should commend themselves for making such an important change.
